The Father - Daughter Bridal Waltz

The father /daughter waltz (or father daughter dance) is a popular feature of western weddings, and is generally performed after the bridal waltz and often performed at the start of the second dance bracket (after the main meal).

The waltz is meant to symbolise a father stepping-down as the primary care giver, and handing his daughter over to her new husband. Whilst the actions of 'stepping-down' and 'handing-over' are not overtly performed, the music during the waltz should be reflective of the father's memories of his daughters life thus far.
